A 43.1-meter award-winning CdM custom explorer yacht named Acala has been sold. The sale involved Luke Brennan of Cecil Wright and Franco Ambrosi of Zarpo Yachts on the seller’s side, with Adam Papadakis of Moravia Yachting introducing the buyer.
Acala gained recognition at the 2023 World Superyacht Awards, winning in the category “Displacement Motor Yachts 499GT and below, 40m to 44.9m.” She was celebrated for rugged aesthetics, well-designed crew spaces, a well-equipped diving store, and an elegant, contemporary interior—coming just a year after her delivery in 2022.
The exterior lines were crafted by Italian studio Horacio Bozzo Design, while Hydro Tec handled the naval architecture. Interior design was conceived by Mexican designer Simon Hamui.
The yacht was listed for €29,995,000. Nicknamed the “modest explorer yacht,” Acala was custom-built for an experienced owner who wanted a more comfortable platform than their previous, smaller Darwin 102 with the same name. The aim was to explore remote islands in the Atlantic and Pacific, leveraging the owner’s extensive knowledge to tailor the vessel precisely to their needs.
Onboard features include a beach club with a dive store illuminated by the glass bottom of the aft-deck pool and an expedition-ready range of 5,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 10 knots.
A nitrox compressor is located nearby in the engine room.
Accommodations sleep up to 12 guests in a six-cabin layout, which includes a spacious master suite and three VIP cabins on the main deck and two additional twin guest cabins on the lower deck.
The interior presents a calm, muted ambiance with a mix of natural woods—aged ash and wire-brushed oak in the living areas, eucalyptus in the master suite, and grey Sucupira in the guest cabins. Custom-built furniture from Mexico and Italy is upholstered in plush fabrics such as cashmere, with hand-woven alpaca rugs and leather accents throughout.
Social spaces include a relaxed main saloon with a large sofa and entertainment center, plus a panoramic sky lounge on the upper deck that blends formal forward seating with a substantial dining area aft. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open to a circular lounge, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor entertaining space.
Generous windows throughout the accommodation and living areas flood the interiors with natural light and offer expansive views.
The sundeck is partially shaded and features a second pool, dining area, several sunpads, and lounge chairs. The main deck aft also provides sunpads and a casual dining table.
Performance-wise, Acala is a 499GT yacht capable of reaching up to 15.3 knots, powered by twin Caterpillar C32 Acer engines. She measures 8.6 meters in beam.
Acala’s last listed price was €29,995,000.
