Even a fire alarm couldn't shake Maximilian Davis's cool. But what treasures did he save from the Ferragamo Pre-Fall 2026 collection? On a chilly Milan morning, a false alarm disrupted the presentation at the brand's headquarters. When asked what he'd rescue first, Davis's response was immediate and confident: "Leather!"
And for good reason! His latest collection was brimming with desirable pieces.
The lineup was a treasure trove, featuring a reversible shearling jacket and a supple trenchcoat, both in a rich burgundy. There was also a military green suede safari jacket tailored for men, alongside effortlessly elegant draped dresses in lightweight wool and printed cady separates, all finished with chic knotted leather details. Easy-breezy knits, relaxed pleated pants, and low-slung pencil skirts completed the picture.
But here's where it gets exciting: the accessories! Davis revisited some of his signature styles, transforming them into Ferragamo staples. Think the Hug bag, the Soft bag in a grosgrain version, and the double Gancini flap bag, now in elongated east-west proportions. He also unveiled tote bags, spacious enough to carry the entire collection!
The collection built upon themes from his recent fashion show, like the iconic 1920s silhouettes. Davis also dove into the Ferragamo archives, unearthing a nautical theme. This was reflected in the prints on scarf dressing and silk handkerchief skirts, the button placements on linear cotton frocks and double cashmere caban coats, and the leather belts with metal eyelets, with ropes used as drawstrings on tops.
The asymmetric stripes on lightweight knitted separates offered a fresh take, with the high-waisted sailor pants crafted from cotton stealing the show.
And this is the part most people miss: Davis has a knack for transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary through subtle details. This was evident in navy knits with Gancini-shaped hardware and leather profiles that elevated everyday pants.
