Eastgate Shopping Centre tenant Joules confirms closing date and upcoming move
A well-known clothing retailer at Eastgate Shopping Centre has announced its closure date for this month. Joules, located on the first floor in unit 17, will shutter its doors on December 30. A notice in the window confirms the final day of trading and directs customers to Joules.com for home delivery, or to other Joules locations, or to more than 500 additional locations.
The announcement follows an earlier notification to customers this month about the store’s closure. It’s expected that the unit will not remain vacant for long, as Hotel Chocolat appears poised to relocate into the former Joules space in the near future.
Highland building warrants issued earlier this month show unit 17 is set for a £195,000 refit, with Hotel Chocolat listed as the applicant. If completed, this would mark Hotel Chocolat’s second relocation within a few months. The brand previously moved from its original site beside the former Royal Bank of Scotland branch on the first floor when that area was redeveloped to accommodate Søstrene Grene, which opened recently.
That previous move placed Hotel Chocolat in Unit 34, adjacent to HMV, though it was described at the time as a temporary relocation while a permanent unit was prepared. The building warrant now suggests Joules will take that permanent role.
