NRM's Unity & Diversity: Kabula MP Enos Asiimwe's Message to Party Members (2026)

Imagine a political force so inclusive that it genuinely unites people from all corners of society—that's the core strength of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). But here’s where it gets controversial: this diversity, often celebrated, is also a source of tension and debate about how well it can truly foster cohesion. Recently, Kabula’s Member of Parliament, Enos Asiimwe, passionately highlighted the NRM’s identity as a broad-based organization that bridges different backgrounds, perspectives, and interests across Uganda.

During an interview on NBS Barometer on Tuesday, Asiimwe explained that the NRM’s power stems from its ability to bring together a wide spectrum of citizens. This inclusivity allows the party to craft policies that are more representative of the population’s varied needs, ultimately contributing to national stability and development. He emphasized that, as a mass political party, the NRM naturally attracts a diverse membership, and this diversity is what fuels its strength.

Furthermore, Asiimwe called on NRM members and supporters to champion core values like unity, discipline, and service. He stressed that these principles are not just words but serve as the backbone of the party’s ongoing mission to serve the nation effectively.

Adding to this narrative, Moses Kizito Nsubuga, a contender for the Kampala Lord Mayor seat under the NRM banner, pointed out that Uganda’s steady progress is largely due to the peace and security fostered by the NRM government. He confidently stated, “One of the key achievements of the NRM is maintaining peace. Uganda continues to advance because of the stability and safety that the NRM has worked hard to establish.”

This perspective underscores a common belief that peace is fundamental to development, yet it also invites questions about the sustainability of this peace and what it truly means for the nation’s future. Is unity enough, or do deeper reforms and inclusivity beyond political rhetoric need to be prioritized?

What’s your take? Do you see the NRM’s diversity and emphasis on peace as the real drivers of Uganda’s progress, or are there other factors that deserve more attention? Share your thoughts in the comments—this is a conversation worth having.
